What Families Need to Know about Youth Career Pathways and WorkForce Centers

Date: Wednesday, October 25, 2017
Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm

Learn about career planning options for in-school and out-of-school youth with disabilities and where you can find help launching your youth on their path to employment. This workshop will highlight: what families can do to build employment skills at home, how to begin a career path in high school, Vocational Rehabilitation Services for youth with disabilities, and new MN Workforce Center Career Pathway programs available to youth with disabilities age 16 to 24. A $20 gift certificate will be provided to attendees who complete a confidential survey on their family member’s employment support needs. A Vocational Rehabilitation Services representative will be in attendance. Pizza and pop will be served at 6:15pm.

Transitioning to Employment

Date: Thursday, October 26, 2017
Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm

Parents of students in the ninth grade and above will receive information on career exploration and planning, including preparing their youth for employment and information about agencies that provide independent living, financial, and employment services and supports. A Vocational Rehabilitation Services representative will be in attendance. Participants will also receive a packet of helpful information and resources. Pizza and pop will be served at 6:15pm.
