Inspire

After 19 years of dedicated employment, I found myself facing a new challenge: unemployment. I decided it was time to pursue something that I had thought about for years, obtaining my CDL license. I had never gone to Rural Minnesota CEP before, but from the moment I walked in the door the staff were very nice, helpful, and easy to work with. They mentioned it might be possible for them to help me obtain that goal with funding through what is called the Drive for Five Program. It wasn’t long and I was starting a new adventure. The staff at RMCEP was quick to get the ball rolling for me, I filled out some simple paperwork, did some permit testing and career planning. Before long, they told me I was accepted for the grant, and was quickly enrolled in CDL training at 160 Driving Academy. Amazingly at no cost to me. With hard work and determination, I successfully completed the training and passed the behind-the-wheel test and earned my Class A license. I could never have done this without the help and encouragement of the staff at RMCEP, especially the financial aspect of it that I could not have afforded on my own. Now that I have my CDL license, I am confident I will be able to secure employment in the high demand industry of commercial driving. I have been actively interviewing and have attended several job fairs in the area, and am optimistic about securing a career in this field soon. A heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at RMCEP, a special thanks to my job counselor, I appreciate all that you do.

Sincerely,
Robert Wenner
