Responsibilities

Primary Position Objectives:

This position exists to provide services in a team-centered environment that will improve access to education, training, and employment opportunities for targeted youth with disabilities who are unemployed, underemployed and/or receiving Social Security Disability or Supplemental Security Income benefits.  This position will provide project management services regarding Employment Network and Ticket to Work.  This position is grant funded for five years with the possibility of continued funding.

Essential Functions:

Enhance services to targeted youth through strength-based assessment and career planning tools.  Collaborate and cooperate with state-level project team lead to carry out the goals of the project at the local level.  Recruit youth with disabilities to the program.  Conduct outreach to the disability community and organizations that serve youth with disabilities, to promote interagency collaboration and coordinate services.  Assist youth job seekers with disabilities, including SSI/SSDI beneficiaries, to navigate and use the CareerForce system and other services and supports needed to obtain/maintain employment.  Effectively present information to the public on employment services, work incentives such as Ticket to Work, availability of assistive technologies and reasonable accommodations, tax incentives and benefits of employment of youth with disabilities.  Assist in building the capacity of staff to serve youth job seekers with disabilities more effectively.  Prepare reports to document progress toward meeting the project goals and objectives.  Facilitate the Integrated Resource Team (IRT) meeting to assist with issues related to achieving the participant’s education, training, or employment goals.  Engage with PACER center staff on technical assistance and coordinate parent trainings offered by them in RMCEP’s service delivery area.  Earn or maintain the Ticket to Work Certified Work Incentive Practitioner Status and assist with managing Ticket to Work Services.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in management or a human services field, or a combination of related education and related experience.  Must have experience with project management and an understanding of human services.  Must understand the issues and resources that pertain to people with disabilities.  English language proficient.   Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and work in a team-structured delivery system.   Computer skills to include word processing, email, and internet.  Must pass a criminal background check.  Requires a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and a reliable vehicle.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in vocational rehabilitation or similar discipline.  At least one (1) year of experience effectively working with clients with disabilities or least one (1) year of experience working with youth and/or youth with disabilities.  Knowledge of Assistive Technologies and CareerForce systems.  Exceptional written, verbal, problem solving and interpersonal skills.  Those who are veterans or possess the National Career Readiness Certificate will be given additional consideration.
