Partners for Youth
Rural Minnesota CEP is the recipient of a multi-year demonstration grant from DEED called MN ETM - Partners for Youth. It is intended to cover rural communities. RMCEP serves 19 counties in Workforce Development Area 2. The grant’s primary purpose is to reduce and eliminate disparities in employment and education outcomes for youth and young adults with disabilities, ages 16 through 24. The emphasis will be transition-age 18 to adulthood with a full spectrum of career exploration activities, advances to credential attainment, skills gain, work-based learning, paid employment, and ultimately competitive integrated employment in the adult labor force.
Agency Youth Coordinators will overlay assessments, career pathway development, as well as education and work experience services with person centered practices. This will allow them to design interactive activities and supports across all life domains. Key priorities include trauma-informed support, financial literacy practices, personal advocacy, and leadership development. We will expand and strengthen holistic systems from lessons learned from Guideposts for Success and Integrated Resource Teams best practices to help create lasting change and opportunity for youth and young adults with disabilities. By tailoring our employment and education services we can assist our program participants thrive in changing environments.
A Disability Resource Coordinator was recently hired to guide and assist in creating lasting agency systems able to share disability resources with participants, families, employers, and diverse community partners. Look for more information and links posted to this RMCEP website in the coming months. Until more information is released, please direct all questions to the Disability Resource Coordinator, Nancy Stensgard.
