Payments are automatic and no action is needed for most taxpayers, including those who filed tax returns in 2018 and 2019 and most seniors and retirees. But people who receive Social Security retirement, survivors, or disability insurance benefits and who did not file a tax return for 2018 or 2019 and who have qualifying children under age 17 should now go to the IRS’s webpage above to enter their information. This also applies to Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries.
