Temporary Full-Time: Job Counselor

Location: Bemidji Workforce Center

Filing Deadline:  April 3, 2012

Salary: Entry Level Grade 9
$14.95/hour to $17.29/hour

Primary Objectives of Position: Provides a variety of counseling services for the purpose of assisting agency clients to become self-supporting by planning for, securing and maintaining employment. .

Required Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in human services field or equivalent experience. English language proficient. Must work effectively in team-structured delivery system. Able to deal with people individually or in groups. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. No prior history of client abuse. Computer skills to include word processing, email, internet, and accessing information.

Preferred Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in social work or counseling or combination of a related degree with appropriate experience. Exceptional written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills. At least one year of client service experience. Group facilitation and motivational skills.

Essential Functions:
1 .  Conducts comprehensive assessment to identify barriers to employment and program service options.

2.  Assists clients to develop a meaningful Individual Service Strategy for employability.

3.  Assists clients to successfully implement their individual plans for self-sufficiency goals.

4. Arranges for agency supportive services in program participation.

5. Arranges training services and refer clients to training providers.

6. Attains or exceeds prescribed performance standards on a monthly basis.

7. Maintains documentation of client contacts and progress related to their individual plans.

Other Responsibilities:     Performs other work related duties as assigned.
